Since I had kids, June winds up being the craziest month of the year.
Take a look at this:
June 20 - Dance recital, lasts about 5 hours
June 22 - Little one graduates from Pre-K
June 24 - Kids are out of school
June 26 - Stepson's high school graduation
June 29 - Kids go off to summer camp
Oy vey. Just looking at this is making me tired...

I deleted this journal at the beginning of the year. I was randomly surfing around LJ for the first time in a while, and I found some comms that look interesting. So I brought this thing back and deleted a bunch of entries from '06 and '07.
Here's something I found: Stereotyping
British
[X] You drink a lot of tea.
[X] You know what a brolly is.
[ ] Deal or No Deal has taken over your life.
[ ] You wanted Ben to win X Factor.
[X] You use the word "bugger" or the phrase "bloody hell."
[ ] Fish and Chips are yummy.
[X] You can eat a Full English Breakfast.
[X] You dislike emos almost as much as you dislike chavs.
[ ] It's football...not soccer.
Total: 5

Not coincidentally, some of my favorite colors are in here--and one is close to the color I'm painting my room.
Your rainbow is shaded violet.
What is says about you: You are a creative person. You appreciate beauty and craftsmanship. You are patient and will keep trying to understand something until you've mastered it.
Find the colors of your rainbow at spacefem.com.

I've been trying to get auburn highlights in my hair for a while, so I tried a couple of different Clairol colors. I was happy with it until I got the Lush catalog the other day and began reading about their henna. Now, I've been thinking of putting henna in my hair for many, many years, but never got around to doing it. Until now, that is.
This isn't the kind of henna that's found in natural food stores, BTW...that stuff, I found out, can fry hair that's been recently dyed or straightened, i. e. putting some shitty chemical in your hair. That's because they mix metallic salts in the henna to get all different colors. So I found out that you can put body-art quality henna over hair dye, because there's absolutely no chemicals in it. I was sold.
I bought my henna from here: http://www.mehandi.com/
It's on its way (I bought it Saturday). I'll post how my hair looks when the job is done.
I decided against the Lush henna because that stuff is a nightmare to do, and with kids running all over the house, I can't be spending hours carving and shaving henna and mixing messy goop. But I've already decided to blow a bunch of $$$ at Lush for my birthday, which is in 2 1/2 weeks. ;D

I'm getting over a 24 hour flu bug. Who the hell gets that in the summer???
Two of the kids caught it over the last week, and it was only a matter of time before Mom got it as well.
I had this awful fever, and I was in bed most of yesterday.
Good news on the diet front: After switching out the carbs (too much bread, in the form of English Muffins...those are irresistible) for veggies, I lost 6 pounds in less than a week.
Also, I finally made space in the bedroom for a sewing table, so I can finally get started on the dress for SalonCon in September. Now I have to comb the antique stores for a table. Will be heading down to Point Pleasant soon for that. No cheap looking tables for my room.

I hid my whiny post from yesterday, because no one needs to read that shit. I feel more "up" and more in control today.
I lost 3 pounds over the weekend. Just when I thought my weight gain was irreversable, too. The problem is the water weight I gain just before I get "it", and that I hold onto until it's over. That's 2 straight weeks of weight gain. It doesn't help that I spot for days before I actually get it. I'm going to have to call my OB/GYN to see how I can control this.
This morning, I'm steam vacuuming the couches in the den. They should look like new by the time I'm finished with them. And I have to stop the kids from sneaking food in there. They get shit all over the couches, and some of it gets down into the couches.
I also met "the Redoubtable Society" on Friday night. They seem like a really cool bunch. Not sure when their next get-together will be, but I'm going to hang with them again. Beats hanging with a freaky contingent of suburban moms any time. (Makes no sense because *I'm* nearing 38 and a mom, but...these women are so concerned with what's trivial and superficial, and my brain shuts down whenever they start to talk. I feel like a freak around them, but who's really more freaky?)

I locked all my entries from the start of this LJ (2006) to now. There's stuff on there that simply isn't relevant to my life any longer.
I decided that this is going to be home to my creative projects, house re-dos, steampunk costume in progress, those sorts of things.
Onward and upward.
